Right-click menu

All data elements on a Dashboard have a menu when you right click. This menu contains the tools needed to change visuals and to analyze content and much more. The menu is context sensitive, meaning it will contain options for the element you clicked on.

Drill to default destination, new window or element

If you right-click on an area that is defined as a drilldown, you get 3 options on how to display the result.

  • Drill to default destination: Show the result as the way it is defined by the designer.
  • Drill to new window: Opens the result in a new window.
  • Drill to own container: Displays the result inside the same container.

Sort ascending, descending or remove sorting

If you right-click on the table heading you can change how the data is sorted or remove sorting.

Duplicate

The element is duplicated so that you can continue to work on it. The new element will have the same settings as the original.

Maximize

The visualization is opened in a new window that covers the whole dashboard. To close this window, click the icon in the top right corner or right-click and select “Close”.

Parameters/Filters

Opens a dialog box that enables you to choose the parameters/filters with which you wish to filter the data. There are two types of parameters: lists and tree structures.

TIP: You can also open this dialog directly on the choosen parameter/filter by clicking the parameter description text in the visualization.

In the tree structure you can select the options with which you wish to filter the data. If you click on a node at the top level, all the options below it will be selected or deselected. If no option is selected, all the data will be displayed.

Lists are made up of a shortcut menu and a search field. If you click on the search field, a list of parameters will be displayed. Click on your choice. This choice will be saved in the shortcut menu and will appear the next time you open the parameter dialog box. You can choose one or more options in the shortcut menu if the parameter allows this (decided by the person who has designed the dashboard). You can remove selected options simply by clicking on them, or drag a box around them.

If the list is long, it can be difficult to re-locate a given option. You can enter the first few letters in the search field, and the list will display the current options. If the list contains very many options, all of them will not be displayed. The default size of the list is 400 items, but this can be changed in the system administration (System variable “async_param_treshold_list”).
In that case, you should type something in the search field to narrow the list.

For periodical parameters, a calendar will be available in which you can choose a time-period. If you click on the calendar icon, a dialog box with two calendars will be displayed with start and end dates. Click on the arrows at the top of the calendar to navigate between the months.

If you click on “Advanced”, you can also choose a start and end time enabling you to locate the day’s date quickly. You can also switch on the shortcut and choose just the month and the year.

In addition to being able to modify parameters/filters for each data element, you can also use the tab to the left of the dashboard to quickly override all the data elements. Select the parameters you want to change, set wanted values and click “update”.

If you check off for «Remember» the parameter will be remembered across dashboards. In this example “Sale date” will automatically be set to “This month” on the next dashboard you open – that is if that parameter exist on that dashboard.

Above the organization tree you’ll find a search field. It allows you to quickly find an entry in the tree. If you select one or more option you will see your selection above the tree. Click “Reset” to clear all the selected in the tree.
